!955 Ford Marker lights

Hello,

I have a 1955 Bus that has the same front end as the below firetruck. My question is, do all '55 trucks use the same marker lights and the same front hood emblem? If so, I am looking for the passenger side marker lense and housing and front hood emblem.

Greg

This is not the definitive answer, but I saw a 55 schoolbus in a junkyard once and thought how it was neat that the lights/housings were the same.
Since I have a 55 it hit me as being the same. I imagine the whole grill assembly is the same.

Greg, I'm pretty sure the grill & lights are the same from the 'big' trucks & the 'little' trucks. The parking lights are specific to the 1955 year but both sides are the same. You can get reproduction lights that are parking lights only or parking light & turn signal.

The hood emblem is the same for 1953, 54, 55 & 56. Good luck.

You can also get amber lenses instead of clear ones, for what it's worth.

Thanks guys! I am new to this board as my main project is a 1952 ****** Army Jeep. I have found this board nothing but the best. Seems now I have two projects going on. My dad roped me in on this one.

The parking lights are also available in stainless steel.
The Bob Drake repro hood emblem is a good one.

Yes and even all the cab and door parts are the same. The fenders get "fatter" as the truck gets bigger than F-600. The F-600 fenders have bigger wheel cut-outs,

Don't forget to post lot's of pictures! We need more Big truck people!

Regards,

Rick

truckbuff - Are the parking lights are specific to the 1955 year and different from the 56?

Mid Fifty lists them the same for 53-54 then individually for 55 and 56.

parking lights

Fomoko1, yes the 55 & 56 lights are different. The frame or mounting bracket part of the light is made to match the shape of the gravel pan or lower valance. The distance from the gravel pan to the headlight part of the grill is different from 55 to 56, so the light trim pieces are a different height to fit that space. The lens & gasket is the same.

I was going to use the gravel pan from my 55 in my 56 so that may not work? The 55 has a rust free part and the 56 has a small amount of rust.

I did the gravel pan switch a while back and I modified my park light housings slightly to fit (55 to 56). They are really very close.
