01 f250 turn signal blower motor stay on after key is out???
01' F250 SD PSD Crew Lariat. OK all you electrical gurus out there I need some direction with this problem. It all started when the speedo and overdrive did not work. The day before it was raining cats and dogs then went below freezing that night. Next morning the speedo would not show speed nor would the overdrive kick in and the OD light was either flashing or on. Later in the day as the outside air warmed up the speedo started working as well as the overdrive but the OD light still flashed. I had my shop replace the speed sensor. The OD light still flashes. My shop suggested I take it to a dealer. But when I went to pick up the truck the batteries were dead. Batteries were new last year. With fresh batteries I got the truck home and when I turned the truck off I found that the a/c blower still would run if I turned the blower switch on and the turn signals would operate also. Does anybody have a clue what the heck is going on with this truck.
Go to the fuse box under the dash. Look for fuse number 22 which is a 10 amp fuse. Pull the fuse and see if the blower still works. If it doesn't work, take a voltmeter or testlight, and probe the fuse socket where the 22 fuse went. If it has power, then there must be something wrong with the ignition switch. That's where the power comes from for this fuse, which feeds the blower relay.
Thanks for the clue. I will pull the truck in the garage tomorrow and see what shows up in the fuse panel. Do you have any idea on what it would take to replace the ignition switch/module if that what it comes down to?
I looked it up. The switch is located on the bottom side of the steering column, just down from the steering wheel. They pull a big flat panel off the bottom of the dash, then they remove the handle off the tilit wheel lever, then they take the screws out of the bottom column cover and take it off. You should be able to see it then.
if the switch is at the bottom of the column it has a rod that operates it from the key switch, the electric portion of the switch should be on slides where it bolts to the column, it may just be out of adjustment and not completely turning off in the off position.
A common problem is water in the fuse box from a leaking windshied. The water shorts the fuse box inside which provides power to fuses that are supposed to be dead when the ignition is off.

i second racerguy...i have seen a lot of these fuse boxes fill with water and cause all kinds of strange things. see if there is an unsual amount of rusty metal near the fuse box. have someone soak the windshield with the garden hose while looking under dash...it doesnt take much to make things act up.
We started seeing it in 97 on the F-150s. Since then I've seen it on both the F-150s and Super Duties. It's not limited to any particular year. Sometimes the windshield seal wasn't good from the factory, sometimes it wasn't good after having the windshield replaced.

Have not had the opportunity to explore the issue yet. It seems evey time I think I am going to get 5 minutes to work on it something pops up that needs my absolute immediate attention. I am hoping this week I can get at it.
Hello to all! Well I finally have some news on the gremlins in my truck.
First. The General Electonic Module was shorted out and causing many of the elctronic problems. That has been replaced.
Second. With the new module in the truck we can tell that there is a tranny third gear problem. Tranny guy said that he is going to look for a snap ring that has slipped out of the groove or broken. He says he has had this issue before with these trannys. At any rate he will go through and do a complete inspection, reseal of the tranny.
Third. With the new module in, there is still a sticking/ticking of the speedo so the rear end cover is coming off to look for an issue like a chipped tooth or some other cause. Also replacing the pinion seal which is weeping ever so little. And while the drive shafts are down might as well replace the u-joints.
So there you have it. That is where I am today. Let you know more as it unfolds.
