The car based SUV makes a whole lotta sense if you don't tow anything heavy. Decent fuel economy, more 'rugged' looking than a minivan and better road view than a wagon. This reminds me of the 70's when high gas prices forced Detriot to re-invent itself.
I'm not real crazy about the front end, but its a nice looking vehicle in general. I pretty much like the overall thing, its just the front end I dont like. other than that, its a cool looking vehicle.
somebody mentioned this is replacing the freestyle? i was thinking of buying an '06 freestyle, but if they're in for 2 years and then out, i'd have serious doubts.
comments?
The last I heard is that the Freestyle's going to Mercury while Ford get the Edge. In a way, it makes sense- the Freestyle is a larger, more expensive car than the edge. Uh...SUV. Uh.... you know...
Yeah - would be interesting to see what it does for resale values...
I recall when Land Rover had to increase the price of thier FreeLander by Au $10k (US $7k) due to huge currency movements in the Sterling and the Aussie peso.
Resale values followed the upward trend, in fact quite a lot of owners made money on selling thier vehicles (good move too with the Freelanders reliability)
The used car market is so screwed up here because of incentives, rebates, etc, resale doesn't (or shouldn't) factor into the equation. Especially on a Land Rover product- they traditionally get royally shellacked come trade-in time here.
