351w Horse Power

When I did the search I got al sorts of hits but the one I wanted. What is the horse power of the factory standard 351W? What would it be after broing it out 30 over?

Thanks for the answers. And if you can tell me how to word the search I would appreciate it. I tried 351w HP and 351w horse power and 351w+horse+power.

Thread moved to " 221, 260, 289, 5.0/302, 5.8/351W V8" tech forum. There should be more responses to the question here in the tech forum.

I didn't check this forum when I did my search. Maybe that's why I idn't get what I was looking for. The 351w is in a 1984 F-150 Super Cab. It's also an HO.

If you don't aready have the 84 351 HO, you may look for a 69 351 4v
they have the same horse power as a 69 302 boss!

290 horse power and very good heads and a taller deck, but if you aready
have the 84 ho then a'' bird in the hand''.

Boring an engine is not ment for horsepower gains. It is part of the rebuilding process with new rings to restore lost compression from worn rings/cylinder walls. The cylinder is bored and honed to re-establish a nice cylinder wall surface. You gain only a few ci in engine size from it. It's not a method to extract more power out of an engine like bolting on new heads or an intake. It's just part of the rebuilding process.

Exactly. Only by "stroking" the motor will you get a substantial increase in Hp at the machine shop. The easiest thing to do to make more power out of a Windsor block is to put some heads on it that breathe.

You'll get more torque out of stroking it. The horsepower is a by-product.

Stoking it is a trick used to lengthen the stroke of the engine.

The stroke is the distance from top dead center to bottom dead center. It's basically the up and down movement of the piston. The bore is the diameter of the cylinder.

For example, the bore and stroke on a 351 is 4" and 3.5" respectively. My 393ci stroker, has a 4.030" bore and a 3.85" stroke. It was bored .030 over to clean up the cylinder walls and has an aftermarket crank to increase the stroke from 3.5" to 3.85".

It's basically a way of increasing an engines displacement. A 351 can go up to a 427ci engine just by stroking it. It allows you to get more displacement out of the same engine and not have to swap in a larger/heavier engine.
