Massaging and Dip Stick Tube for DP

I got a porta power and 'massaged' the firewall a little too much. Does anybody know of a sealant that could stand the heat, I split the sheet metal about 3"?
Not enough room to weld. Also, my orginal dip stick and tube (auto) will not fit. I heard that you could use a 99 and up e40d tube and dip stick when you put in a 31/2" or a 4" downpipe. I'll check with the junk yards, if I come up short does anybody know where I could get one?

It's not as hot outside the pipe as inside. JB weld should hold up fine on the firewall. Especially if you put the heat shielding back on.

Can't help with the dipstick....didn't now you had to change it to run a bigger DP.

I would take a lot of JB weld but the idea of using the insulation off of the old DP sounds good. Yea, I saw a picture of the 99+ dipstick tube for a e40d. It goes behind the DP (firewall side), then down. I quess it even bolts up where OBS's do.

I didn't know that you could fit a 4" DP on a 96. Anythings possible given enough clearance, I guess.
Is that Vicker's gun in your gallery one of those WW? machine guns?

If it's not big place take Scott's word for it and use JB Weld. If it's a very big hole find you a Fastenal store (http://www.fastenal.com/) and let the person at the counter know you need some high temp epoxy. It won't be cheap but I think it would be cheaper and a lot easier than a whole bunch of JB Weld.

well, the downpipe wasn't made to fit. it's a 99+ super duty dp. the ebpv housing was cut in half and a flange from a superduty housing was mated to my original housing to get the dp to clamp on. and it took more than just a 3" split in the floorboard to fit it in there.
yup, the vickers is a WW1 era machine gun. it was a nice tea maker ... sold though
