Bronco II leaking oil from Distributor HELP!!!!
I have a 1984 4wd Bronco II 2.8l motor that I have rebuilt the engine and it runs great. But the only problem I am having is it is badly leaking oil from around the base of the distributor. The old distributor felt like it was slipping in and out of the engine to easily so I tried placing a new o-ring around the distributor but it did nothing for me. The only other thing I could think of is maybe the distributor shaft was somehow worn down so I bought another distributor and the o-ring on it was a lot smaller than what I placed on the old distributor but it fit in a little tighter than the previous one that was in there and it cut the oil leak about in half but it is still leaking and driving me crazy!!! The oil leaks right on the exaust pipe so it looks like it is burning a lot of oil when actually it isnt burning oil at all. I want to know if there is a second gasket it takes at the base of the distributor or should I do like a friend suggested and put the thing in time and jb weld the thing in the completley seal it off. It is gonna be an offroad vehicle but not with that oil leak. Any advice would be appreciated. Also I would like to know if there is any way to maybe get rid of the distributor and go to some kind of electronic ignition box.

The PCV valve is a good idea. I will pick up one of those today since they are so cheap. But the valve covers are not leaking. I have verified this by driving a distance and feeling with my fingers all the way around them and not a drop of oil. But darnet lol. I completley rebuilt this engine and included all of the following.
Had the block bored .60 over, cleaned and pressure checked
Rods checked
New pistons and rings
new oil pump
all new felpro gaskets
Heads redone with new valve seals
crank shaft machined
new main bearings and rod bearings
new freeze plugs
New Cam shaft
new water pump, belts hoses, distributor, plugs wires
New radiator, starter, battery
Rebuilt the aftermarket 2b holley carbrueter
Replaced the bad manual hubs with automatics I found at a junk yard
Put a nice brush guard on the front that soon will have a winch
Soon to be 31 inch mud tires
a 3 inch body lift
and last but not least a 20 krylon paint job lol.
It was my first engine rebuild and this is going to be a mud truck and it is dissapointing that it is doing this but I am not giving up by any means!!! The truck fires up at the touch of the key. I also modified the exaust to where I removed the catalayic converter and removed the existing muffler and placed a glass pack muffler on and the tail pipe comes out from behind the hatch up the side of the truck to the roof and has a rain flap. I will post pictures soon.
