Clutch Slave cylinder Retainer
1994 ranger 2.3 , 4cyl. 5 speed manual.
Hi everyone, i am installing a new hydraulic clutch slave cylinder. The throwout bearing, and spring is presently held by a blue plastic retainer, for shipping i guess? Do i remove this before, or after the transmission is installed? Do you break it off through the old rubber plug for the release fork? Any advise and knowledge welcomed! Thanks much.

Thanks el conquistador, Just limping along slowly trying to figure out my first manual transmission, and clutch repair. Thanks to all who posted with great information. i got the trans back in now, and will try and finish up tomarrow Most manuals dont show the fine little details such as this retainer, and can only come from this boards experience. Thanks again.

Risky97psd, leave the blue plastic fitting on the clutch slave cylinder. it is part of the assembley. Just bolt the new slave unit onto the transmission, with its two mounting bolts. I actualy was confusing the concentric style slave (mounts inside trans bellhouse) with the externally mounted slave cylinder, which DOES HAVE a retainer. Sorry for the mixup!
