Just curious to see what the electrical rates are around the country.

I'll start.

Somewhere in eastern WA - 4.6 cents per kW/h for the first 600 kW/hr's and $5 monthly for the meter. There used to be no meter charge until some big company bought out the good ol' local company, one that was successful and respected by the community and that existed for about 100 years.

**Outsiders please stay home; we're shipping our excess down south right now so there's plenty for everyone to enjoy .

It might be around $.20/kwh. Plus fuel surcharge, plus delivery fee, plus basic service fee. Adds up to almost $300/month.

Hydro Costs

Hydro in Eastern Ontario running at 0.05 cents a KW/H . Suppose we could cut a few things out in this Household, average Monthly Bill comes out at $125.00 a month and we haven't plugged the Car in yet for those short little warm ups.

40.64 cents a day fixed charge

3.67 cents per kWh. this is a reduced rate for customers who heat with fuel.

16.46 cents per kWh when outside temp drops below -12. since many people heat with electricity cold weather increases demand and reduces the output that can be sold to the US grid. a second meter downstairs for this rate. a little light goes on, telling me my furnace has switched to oil, woman is forbidden from using the clothes dryer.

Residential and farm use with a demand of fifty (50) kW or less.

Consumer Charge:

Per Consumer per Month
$10.00 per month

*Energy Charge:

First 500 kWh or less per month
$0.0748 per kWh

Next 1000 kWh
$0.056 per kWh

Over 1500 kWh
$0.05 per kWh

About $250/month in the summer.

Solar panels sound like an interesting idea.

Only problem here is that you need sunlight, which we get about once every 17.4 years.
