starter for a 292 64 f100

Hey guy's I have a 64 f100 l.b. original 292 with a ford-o-matic tranny the starter is taking a dump, now I need to rebuild it what years was the starter made for? one manual says same starter thru 72 is this correct? where to get a rebuild kit? or where to buy a new starter? any help would be appreciated.

THere's no "rebuild" kits for starters that I know of. It would be easier to get a rebuilt one or get yours rebuilt at a local starter-alternator shop. Look in the phone book. There must be one somewhere nearby. Did you try NAPA or CarQuest for one. They should be able to get one.

56 to 64 was years this starter was used.

Sacramento Vintage Ford sells rebuilt starters and starter drives. The listing says $95 exchange for 56-61. I don't know why the starter motor would be different from 61 to 64. You can call them at 1-888-FORD-100. They also sell rebuild parts for the starter. I used their parts to rebuild the starter on my '55 F100.
