truck "surge" problem
Hello. I have had a strange problem develop with my '92 F-150. It has a 5.0(about 105,000 miles) and automatic tranny. When accelerating, the engine seems to "surge". You can really hear it surge, but you can't feel it(at least not noticeably). Now, the weird thing is, it doesn't do it all the time. It seems to do it when hot or cold, when you "punch" it, or gently accelerate. Then, sometimes, it won't do it at all. I'm thinking it might be a tranny problem, because I can rev the engine in park and it sounds normal. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? Any suggestions? --Joe

i had a similar problem.. well it wasnt a surge in power more like a complete drop off and made a funny noise and ended up being a loose spark plug and also the plug wire was acrhing... Replaced all plugs and wires and no more problem.. i dont know if this will help you.. Could the Idle Control valve make it surge?
