I have a 99 F150 4.2 that I've been told needs the EGR valve replaced. I'm new at this, but would like to take a crack at it before spending money with a mechanic. Is the EGR close to the throttle body? How hard is it to replace?
on a 4.6 it is very easy to replace. i do not know if that is true for the 4.2. on the 4.6 it on the intake elbow and is mounted with two 10mm bolts. remove the bolts and then just remove the egr from the egr tube and that is all there is to it on a 4.6. hope this helps you out.
