I've got a killer deal on a 2006 Ranger 2x4 king cab. It has the 3.0L 5spd powertrain with 4.10 gears but no Limited Slip. Now my current ride is a 97 B4000 with a LS rear. Here in Eastern Canada with all our snow and freezing rain it's been very nice. Should I wait for a truck with LS or is it a easy install?
Yuppers, that's my suggestion too. If you're selling your old Ranger that will easily offset the cost. And the benefits will pay for themselves many times over.
Not all that complicated if they have one on sight. Just pull your tires off, disconnect everything, pull the old one off, put the new one on, reconnect, and put the tires back on. Take a few hours.
Ask the dealer what he would charge you to put a Ford Torson rearend in, that way it would be under warranty, or you might have him try a dealer trade at another store. That's what I did on my 05, to get the equipment I wanted.
They're usually very good at making it meet your specs to keep your business. Just make sure it'll be on the warranty and they change any paperwork necessary, might replace your door sticker too.
