Guys,

I'm looking at some 2004 4x4 trucks. I'm leaning towards the 5.4L. I previously had a 97 F150 with the 4.6. whose power I would call "adequate" but not impressive. My 97 ran smooth as glass but I'd like a bit more power.

My question: has there been improvemens to the 4.6 when comparing the 97's to the 2004's?

they gained 20 hp with the pi heads. but the 5.4 is where its at right now. it has the new 3v heads making 300 hp and 365 ft pounds.

 

I have the 5.4 and my cousin has a 4.6. My 5.4 has much more power and uses less gas. The EPA estimates were identical.
