Lightbulb loweing my 81 f-150

ok guys i found some 2in lowering springs at airbagit.com for $89.00 bucks and thats all i want to lower it i just want to give it a better stance can i do this i thought i had to have lowering i-beams and the are like 600 bucks i dont have that much money. thanks trevor

Sure you can do this! The only real issue with 2 inch drop springs is you loose quite of bit of the available travel in the front suspension. Your alignment will change also, causing the front tires to wear on the inside more than the outside. You would have to install them then check the chamber with a magnetic dial gauge (like you buy at Sears). I ran torched springs for a long time, my drop was roughly 1.5 to 2 inches and I liked it. I will suggest cutting the bump stop height in half so you don't bounce off of them all the time.

well if i get my front allignment done will that keep my tires from wearing on the inside or will it be lowered to far?

Depending on the beam style...I think you have the forged beams/king pins which have to be bent to correct chamber issues. Not too many shops do this anymore. You can live with up to 2 degrees negative before it starts to act funny. Usually you can count on 1 inch of drop to give you -1 degree of chamber.
