Total Miles On Full Tank
I have a 99 Ford Explorer 4.0 OHV.
Curious to know what other users get out of a full tank of gas. I know i can break down by miles per gallon but what about a full tank of gas.
In the summer time, i get roughly 300 miles to a full tank of gas before my check gauge light comes on to warn me of my Fuel Gauge needle.
In winter this gets cut down to about 250-260 miles on a full tank.
Is my gas mileage decent compared to other users or is my truck a guzzler.
Like to hear any feed back. I have had tune ups and regular maintenance done, but i have always stayed around this mileage on a full tank of gas.
Thanks

It seems that manufacturers target 300 miles per tank, in general. Take a 4 cylinder Honda - 12 gallon tank - 300 miles. My 360 Durango - 25 gallon tank - 300 miles. The 93 Explorer used to get 80 miles per 1/4 tank ~300 miles. But the 173K miles, city traffic only now and my lead foot from traffic light to traffic light have levied a mere 50 miles per 1/4 tank - but what's a 5 sp and headers for anyway?

I have an 02 Explorer XLT 4WD with 4.0L V-6 and a 3.73 LS rear-end differential. Most I ever got was 501 miles before check light came on, and filled it up with 20 gals so that was 25 mph. I had been driving at 55 mph on an interstate and had trucks tailgating me at about ten feet back, so haven't gone that slow again on an interstate.
