17-16" wheel change possible?

I have a 2001 f-150 4x4 with the offroad package with the 17" wheels...My question is can I put some aftermarket 16" wheels on it with no problem or would they rub on brakes or somethin..thanx..

I believe they would be O.K. I have a 2001 which came from the factory with the Sport option which included 17" wheels. Since they were optional, I was fairly sure that the standard 16" wheels would work, and they do. My snow tires are on the 16" wheels.

Mine is a 4x2, but I think yours would still work similarly.

One thing to check for is if there will be clearance issues betweeen the inside of the wheel and your brake calipers. It is not too often that you can go down a size. But since the two sizes were offered for these trucks it may work. Just go to a tire/wheel shop and have them pull out a 16inch wheel. You dont have to mount a tire or anything, just place it on the studs and make sure it will clear the calipers.

Yep, went from 17 factory to 16 after market on my '01 F150 Lariat. When I changed them, there was only a few tires to fit the 17's and they were not the size I wanted.
