sticking brakes
I have a 1976 F-150 2wd. Recently I repacked both front wheel bearings. Now both the brakes stick real bad. I can barely spin the rotors. Before I took the calipers off the brakes were fine. Did I put them back together wrong? I put some tube grease on the slide rails. Is there a difference between that and caliper grease? Would that make a difference?
Thanks, Jakob.

How tight did you tighten the bearing castellated nuts?
They can't be too tight or theres's too much pre-load.
Did you use *High Temp* disc bake wheel bearing grease.
Yes, there is a difference btween wheel bearing grease and caliper grease.

sticking brakes
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Mar-02 AT 09:35 PM (EST)]The rotors turn fine without the calipers mounted. As soon as the brakes are used they start sticking. would there be enough difference in the two kinds of greases to make the calipers not want to slide? I'm in Minnesota so would the cold wether make the grease too thick and not want to slide? I don't think that I used high-temp grease.

You didn't put grease on the calipers did you?
Caliper grease goes on the back of the pads so it meets the piston on the caliper.
It sounds like a caliper piston/s is/are seizing and not sliding back into the caliper sleeve.
