exhaust options - 89 F250 351W

i'd like to replace the exhaust on my truck from the cat back (i live in CA and would just prefer to leave the truck smog-legal). i'm mainly looking to do this more for aesthetic puposes because i'm sick n tired of looking at the rusted remains of the "dual" pipes that are sticking out the side of the truck.

the truck:
89 F250 (non-HD) XLT Lariat
351W, 2WD
Std Cab, Long bed

what i'd like from the system is a simple exhaust that exits in the same position as the old one does, just with a single tip instead of the "duals" it has now. i'm not a huge fan of the aftermarket dual exhaust look that goes striaght out under the bumper, esp. since the bumper on my truck is slightly off kilter and a dual exhaust would just make this even more apparent. i don't need anything too loud, either, although i wouldn't mind a little louder than what i have now. the truck already has a nice magnaflow in place of the stock muffler that i really like the tone of, but it's a dual outlet (basically a direct replacement for the stocker). so far, i've only found two kits out there that suit my needs. One is from Gibson and is a pricey guy (comes in either aluminized or SS). The other is a Summit-brand kit that is much cheaper. However, my buddy had this kit on his 89 F150 with a 302 and i was never really a big fan of it because the tone was lackluster and i didn't like the way it made its last bend which pretty much eliminates the chance of throwing on a nice tip.

of course, my other option is to just take it down to a shop and have them bend something up to my specs, but i don't know if this is any cheaper in the long run. and although i'm not necessarily looking for performance gains, i don't like the idea of throwing something with crimp bends on there when i could buy a bolt-on system that has nice mandrel bends.

so, what do y'all suggest? are there other kits out there i don't know of? if i do have a shop throw something in, do i really benefit more from a 3" setup over a 2.5"?

just do a single 3 inch pip out behind the rear wheel with your muffler of choice

if you still have the stock cat on there, it wont be all that loud just to run pip after it with no muffler, and if its too loud for your tasts, jjust have a small glasspack or something welded in to tone everything down
