62 F100 4WD Brake Conversion
I just found this site today, and after rooting around for awhile thought someone might have some advice I didn't see on converting a 1962 F100 4WD over to front disc brakes. I've found some sites that offer 2WD conversions, but suspect I need something a little different.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

Axle Change
thanks for the suggestion. Guess I'll need to get it onto the lift and really find out what I've got. I suppose it could get quite involved to get the proper gear ratio and wheel/input shaft spacing unless the newer trucks are more similar than I expect they are to what I've got.
Hopefully someone on this site has done this and has a "simple" solution. If it get's too involved, I'll just keep the drum brakes and try to allow plenty of stopping distance.
Thanks,
Bill

DualMC/Power
After reading through several posts that resulted from a "brake conversion" search, it seems the best route may be to convert to a dual MC with a booster to get better braking without "braking" the bank - sorry couldn't resist.
Since I have a 4wd, would the '69 Mustang dual MC/Booster setup still be a viable setup? I've seen '68 to '72 F100 suggestions but don't believe they were Booster equipped. Any suggestions are appreciated.
This truck came with a fresh 350hp/390 with a new C6 kitted tranny and I'd really like to upgrade the Whoa factor some.
Thanks,
Bill

No Pics Yet
No pictures yet, although when I get some time I'll put some up. Not a show truck, but should make a decent daily runner once I get the brake issues straightened out and get her inspected. Only problem I see with the daily thing is it must be geared pretty low, as it turns about 3K at 65mph and got an honest 8.75mpg on the one 140 mile round trip I've made so far to work. At least my job includes free fuel for whatever I drive.
Found most of the parts I need so far to make it reliable and inspectable, except for the front brake hoses which seem to be a real problem. I'll probably put a dual MC on and just find some hoses that are close and replace all of the steel lines to suit since they're ancient anyway.
Appreciate the reply and interest.
