Hello Guys,

I am looking at a 1976 ford f250 4x4 with the 4 speed, limited slip axles, and a 390 2 barrel carb, with headers(from the factory ), any way, I was needing to know what hp and torque the motor put out, and what was the lowest gears available from the factory(I hope 4.10). The truck has not run in 2 years, so it will be a fixeruper for sure. Thanks in advance for the info, Mason

Sure you got a 390? Ford never put one in a 4x4.

Thanks for the axle info. Yes I am positive it is a 390, and the lady that owns it said that it came in the truck new. I am sure you are right. What I wonder is was there some sort of special package in a 4x4 were you could get the 390, the other oddity here is that it also came with headers new. I did see the ticket for the truck when they bought it, and it says that it came with the 390, with headers, and the 4 speed, with part time divorced transfer, in 2/76. It made no mention of the axle ratio, but did say it was trac lock, so I guess that means 4.10 . Thanks for the info, Mason

The 390 with headers was a dealer conversion, not straight from the factory. Alot of that went on back then.

If the 390 DIDN"T come from the factory---did the dealer install the 390 After it arrived at the dealership , in the f250 4x4 , but before the customer took possession of the truck??????fd :-X11
