And the coruption continues. . . . .

Man you guys are bad, here i thought the motor was going to remain mostly stock for a while in my 80, but nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, i had to go and buy a new cam kit and valve springs (plus timing set and valve lock and retainers). But after playing with DD2000, and searching high and low for head flow numbers for the cleveland 4v quench and 2v open chamber heads i came up with some nice numbers, with the 2v heads and assuming a stock cr of 8.5 (most of them are at 8, but this motor is the first year of 400 when they had 8.5cr) there's a max hp of 380hp with 399ft of tq at 5000rpm, then a max tq of 415ft lbs with 315hp at 4000rpm. Then to add to that the tq is fairly flat too, at 2500rpm its a tq of 387ftlbs then to its max of 415 at 4000rpm then down to 399 at 5000rpm with 380hp. Not to shabby .

Then if a set of 4v quench heads (which i have )are thrown on the max hp is 461 at 5500rpm with 440ft of tq, and a max tq of 470 at 4500rpm with 403hp, then the tq curve is just as good as it goes from 416 at 2500rpm to its max of 470 then down to 440 at 5500rpm with 461 hp . But the 4v quench heads i have won't get thrown on till the motor gets a rebuild (and with the new cam this might happen sooner than i think , man you guys are evil).

We haven't even started on you yet your still playing with such a small engine so until we get you looking seriously at 500+ cid don't even accuse us of corrupting you, or atleast get you to get rid of them iron heads, and go with CHI or AFD heads.

I don't know what all of the specs you have inputed (??) into DD2K, but I have built a theoretical 400 (for my dad's Bronco) and have come out with WAY better numbers. But then again I don't believe in revving ANY engine past 4000 RPM anyways (hence my 200 MPH motorcycle that never really goes any faster than 80) and 470 ft.lbs. is easy with a custom grind cam and 10.2:1 compression........... I say you ditch the 400 idea because they suck and build a 521-533 for it.

Easy for me to say because I ain't got no money either.

Hey, its a great start My first several "big" builds were all with small blocks. Once you get the horsepower but its all downhill anyways.

THose numbers are with just the new cam, 4bbl intake, holley 750dp carb, and large tube headers (which i have, just need to install). The cr is a stock 8.5 for the motor along with stock head flow number which bill beyer in the 335series forum linked me too. But with a set of 4v quench heads the power and torque jumps but about 70 in each case, but right now i don't want to get to radical with a the motor as it isn't new by any means .

Yeah once i graduate and start making some money i plan on a big bluid for this truck or a rail car .
