rattle

Have a 2001 f 150 with 140000 on it when you start it up is sounds fine then once it warms up it starts to rattle and the oil pressure will drop to nothing then if you shut it off and restart it the pressure goes back to normal but it still rattles any help??

what kind of rattle from the inside of the engine or out side of the engine. if you give it gas does the or a knock get louder? check the heat shields and exhaust system for loose heat shields they can make a racket. The oil pressure can either be a bad sensor easy fix, or a loose or corroded wire on the sensor. or you have oil pump problems, sounds like a sensor problem though. if you suspect a oil pump then do a oil pressure test at the sending unit, (removed of course). If you don't have a stethiscop (Mechanics) then use a long rubber hose or garden hose to listen around the engine to try to isolate the noise. (be care ful not to get it stuck in moving pares like the belt or fan)
