Thanks to all for the help. I finally traced the problem to a broken ground wire in the MAF circuitry. Now repaired, it runs terrific.

Krewat: I appreciated your help. Although my vehicles aren't listed, I no longer drive an F-150, but use Ford injected V8s -with AOD in a 1930 Buick, 1948 KB-1 IHC and a 1984 volvo wagon. Main transport is an Avalon and a Miata. Have a great day

If it doesn't run, it will be great on gas

Seriously, It's good to see more of these transplants. These are good engines (even though they are large and tight in many older engine compartments). I wonder how a Lightning 5.4L would run in my 77 F150??? It gets much better mileage than yours does right now 6MPG

Actually, it's a 460 with a CompCams 268H cam, Headers, Flowmasters, Performer intake, 750 Edelbrock carb with a C6 and 3.50 gears.
