yep you would think so. but we really know synthetic oil does not offer anymore cleaning ability than a regular oil.

your right it doesn't offer any cleaning benifits over regular oil, and you can get by with any api certified oil, and most engines will run just fine. I work with a guy that switched to synthetic in his ranger 4.0, and get a verified average of 2mpg better fuel economy so that's not going to pay for it.
But with that said I use Dino oil in my regular street vehicles that get oil changed every 3000 miles works fine but my race engine has had nothing but RP in it since first fired (except for the first 30 minutes of run time) did it gain me hp don't know didn't have it on a dyno when it was done. Did Kaase gain 14hp in the engine masters challenge 2 yrs ago when he switched from dino oil to RP while the engine was on a dyno well according to the hotrod article outlying the results of that challenge yes he did. My big block stroker has run all season with the Royal purple oil in it turning 7000+ rpms, and several times hitting or close to hitting 8000rpms, my cyl are still in good shape, and not going to change rings. bearings appear to be almost new (oil preasure at the begining of the season 74psi cold 65 hot end of hte season 71psi cold 60 hot) and thats after approx 80-100 passes in mud drag pits and the engine never sees below 6100rpm from the time the green light comes on till I am at the finish line, and dino oil will literally disinigrate after just one race day (I know I ran it last year in my old engine one day of racing and it poured out like water, and had no lubrication to it at all, and had lost almost all the oil preasure by the end of the season) with the rp I run 3 races before changing it.
I know some people don't want to believe it and thats just fine by me but hten again some people think you should never modify a car from the factory cause after all they build them that way for a reason.
