96 F150 with powerdyne..probs...

Put this kit on my buddies truck, bought it used, all seems ok other than his stock fuel pump isn't quite keeping up enough, but new ones ordered...and it keeps throwing a MAF code, took it out the other night at at 4000 rpm the MAF volts is at 4.6 and hit 5.01 at 4500 ish....thus triggering the light....says on thier site no reprogramming is necessary, also when it hits 5v its like a trigger and starts pinging hard....anyone ran into this before?

Thanks

install was easy actually, if all the parts were there it would have been even easier.

The PCM doesn't recognize anything above 5 volts, so when your MAF exceeds that, it doesn't know that it needs to add more fuel, it's basically leaning out and I would STRONGLY recommend staying out of the throttle until the fuel system and electronics are up to par. A pump, MAF and tune are pricy, but they're cheaper than a rebuild.
Couple of other questions; Did you install an FMU and what calibration is he running; 12:1, 10:1 etc...? These normally come with the kit. What about an inline fuel pump? Is it a 200lph or better

I don't know if you've done so, but you need to run a colder plug to keep combustion temps lower and from burning up the pistons. NGK TR6's, gapped at .028, work excellent for a boosted application and they're sold at many local parts stores.

the kit was missing the bolts and spacers to mount the plate, as well as the fmu and pump. we have a 12:1 fmu on it now, and were putting good pumps in each tank, but according to powerdyne, no programming is needed with this kit. and we got it used. but abviously if its maxing the maf then something has to be done.he stays out of the throttle somewhat cause i told him the results if he doesn't but he laughs and says if it blows then it gives him a reason to build a 427 for it.
