Spark plugs

Going back to the original question, if the plugs were gapped @30 thousandths then it takes very little voltage to jump the gap, meaning their is very little spark, hurting performance. The ignition is only gonna produce whatever it takes to jump the gap. That is principal of increasing ignition voltage so you can run bigger gaps creating a hotter spark, better combustion.

No I meant Havoline. I have not had enough experience with Quaker State to say anything other than the stuff ran out of my engines onto the floor and thru the exhaust pipe too fast. I switched to Valvoline and have not had that problem. Havoline may have improved over the years but it used to be a bottom of the barrel oil that was not fit to use in any engine you wanted to keep.

I use Autolite plugs in everything except my Isuzu where I run Bosh or NGK. I don't know what I will be using in my Mitsubishi, -I imagine NGK.

Plugs must be gapped per spec in order to have the secondary ignition system work properly.

itlkick, im surprised to hear you run platinum plugs on a blower car. Unless you've got a real good reason other wise, I would try the ol' cheapie Autolites (copper core variety). You should get a better spark.

Now to the point of my reply. Autolite and NGK are two of the best plugs you can buy.

Pennzoil and Quaker State are the same company, look on the back of the bottle. I have used the stuff and I didn't have any problems with it. I run Bosch Platinum +4 plugs in my 351M they are the best. I also run Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic and Wix filters, I like the fact that you can easily tell when its dirty, the air filter. Don't underestimate the power of a new inline fuel filter. I have a blaster coil and MSD helicore wires but otherwise my engine is completely stock. I am going to stick on some cleveland heads after work tomorrow.
