is this a bad heater core ????

i have a 74 f100 2wd it had the air conditioning but i took all the stuff off the moter when i put another (well used ) moter in it

its leaking antifreeze out of this tube on the pass. side( its the tube that water always comes out of when the a.c. is on )

i know on the 80s ford trucks and little rangers it leaks right on the floor - its its very plain to tell what it is

- for the mean time i hooked the heater hoses together on the block

- is this the heater core or somthing else there no water on the floor and theres none in the vent that is under the glove box that i could tell

I believe that drain comes out of the box the heater core and air conditioner components are in. I have a photo somewhere. If the leak has stopped since you moved the heater hoses I'd say that indicates it probably is the core.

Yeah, that drain is for condensation from the AC evaporater.
Could be a leaky core. I've seen a few that had the hose pushed up to the firewall/box; the hose leaked and dribbled coolant into the heater box.

Yep, if the heater core is leaking, it will likely drain out of the drain hole.

I think there's an article (see the menu bar at the top of this page) that says how. It's more difficult if your evaporator is still installed.

Other than un-hooking a few lines, it all comes out from the cab side. If you have the money to throw at it, just as well to replace the blower; it's the last thing to come out.
Go through the painfull contortions once and you'll never forget.

Mine did the same thing till I added a container of radiator stop leak 3 years ago. No leaks and the heater still works great.

why dont you plug the tube and see if it still leaks , an internal leak in the heater core wont make your heater stop working ,bob
