It seems to me that others that have posted on this thread feel strongly about having their CC operational as do I. ( I use mine constantly to prevent cramps in my leg on almost daily trips.) I intend on finding a hot side point to tap off of the adjacent relay box (and put about a 10A inline fuse in the wire) so that the switch is only energized when the ignition is on!! Then I'll keep my fire extinguisher handy in case it fires up during driving.
Just called the a dealer in Ms where I am From and was informed that parts may be in by Feb. Called dealer here in Oklahoma City where I am at now and was told the same thing, have to wait until Feb.
I am out of town so I had my wife check the switch to see if it was hooked up. The switch was hooked up, I had her disconnect it and she said there was fluid in both sides, switch and connector. Now my cruise hasn't worked since I bought it a week ago, could this have been the problem all along, a bad switch? She said that it also looks like a black wire with a green stripe looks like it has been cut and capped off, is the power wire going to the switch that someone (dealer ie.) could have cut instead of disconnecting the switch? The truck will be up here next weekend so if there is anything I can check please let me know.
MikeFAA...It is possible someone already cut the wire, but that would lead to the CC not working from the get go. The fluid is what would cause your CC to quit working, and is also the cause of the fires. Other than disconnecting, there is nothing more to do until the parts arrive for install.
I pick mine up about two months ago from the Ford dealer. I am in Houston BTW.
I did the same thing but at my own expense because 99' Expeditions were not included in the recall for the part we got at that time. Unfortunatley the part we both got does not include the fusible link that has been added as part of the latest recall campaign. For this reason, both our vehicles are still susceptable to the same problems of faulty cruise control operation and possible fire.
I was in dealership yesterday, and they said parts were coming in and the would start repairs the week of Dec. 5th but only doing 10 a week. what's the deal
Yea, I think it is FORD draggin thier feet, the dealerships have no reason to only do ten a week. Maybe I could go down and work a shift or two each week and pick up a few bucks.
I stopped into the Dealer Yesterday, same story, end of FEB. Just no more information than that.
If the Canadians got thiers already, maybe I can afford a trip to Canada for Drugs and to get the Mod?
Anybody up there want to put me up for a couple of days?
