Question Ford racing 351W - street use

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=6686

How practical is to have the engine above for daily driver? I mean will it burn holes in my pocket to keep it running everyday?

If you're not worried about gas prices, it should be fine.

If you keep you foot off the skinny pedal you might get 15-17 with an over drive tranny on the highway. More likely 10-12 depending on the rest of your set up.

Looked for a cam spec and couldn't see one. These are pretty good set-ups for a street vehicle. Is your truck just a cruiser, tow truck, or daily driver? Those motor are a little on the expensive side but worth it if you wanna just wanna get one about ready to drop in.

It looks very streetable. 9.0:1 compression and an E-cam should be lots of fun on the street.

The engine you have a link to is pretty close to what I have in my '77. The best I have gotten is 12mpg, but that was on the highway going down hill Going back and forth to home depot and what not, I average 9mpg.

Will function as a daily driver and cruiser - probably once a while it will tow two motorcycles about 1200lbs or a small fishing boat. Sometime, I put one motorcylce on the bed - about 600 lbs. The only thing that I am not sure about it is that it makes its power up the rpm range. I don't know how good that is for a truck.

Now, I also got my eye on this one which makes power low in the rpm range. Not as good as the one earlier, but I would say decent enough.

Both motors should suit your needs. However, the first one would perform better with its roller cam and GT-40 aluminum heads...better than the other combo with a flat tappet cam and E5 iron heads.

nsaikia, if you buy the second engine, let us know if you get a spec card on the E7JE-6250-AA cam. I've been trying to find the specs on that cam for a while now without success!
