Thats a PSA/Ford effort - I don't think you will see that in a truck though.
Think Range Rover and Jaguar XJ...

No, not 150.... That engine would be too expensive.

That, and they are using crazy stuff like Composite Graphite Iron for the block, and other cool (but $$$) technology.

I mentioned this over in the SD forum, but it is probably worth repeating here. A new 4.4 L diesel is apparently being developed for the 2007-2008 F 150 and Land rover LR3? "Additionally, it has been suggested that Ford in conjunction with Sintercast, leaders in CGI engineering, are working on an even more powerful 4.4 liter diesel V8. Rumors suggest this engine could replace the current Navistar V8 used in F250, F350 and eventually find its way into their popular F150."

The 4.4 L CGI diesel info can be viewed at the Land Rover Chronicles: (http://rovering.squarespace.com/jour...arch-2006.html)

Though I doubt this unit will replace the 6.4 (namely because the contract with Navistar extends to 2012 I think), I think it is quite conceivable to see it in the f-150 and more likely the 07 Everest or Expedition Max or whatever the heck they are calling the Extended expedition. Small diesels make the most sense for SUVs and pickups, I'm sure ford is well aware of this, and with the committment to decrease it's environmental footprint I think a diesel SUV and pickup are a sure bet.

My 2 cents

The 4.4 is not a PSA effort. It is coming out of Turkey. It is already past pre-production and can be delivered as soon as tooling is complete- 6 months or less. It will come out somewhere around 300HP and close to 420 ft.lbs torque. It is cheaper and more compact than the V6 Navistar as it is an inhouse developement. Big Blue hasn't been asleep as we all thought these last few years on diesel developement. I doubt that it will ever see the SD series as there is a 6.7 on the drawing board for the SD. Figure 2-3 years developement.

Some more food for ya feast on. Look for a gas engine motor from another brand, V8, 8.0+ liters, 700 prox HP, 1000ft lbs torque and capable of 15 mpg in a 1 ton truck. It is in prototype already. It will not be for the average buyer and will not appear in a half ton truck. This is a truck engine.

My understanding (and I could be wrong) that the 4.4 V8 was based on the 2.7l V6...

So...the 6.4L is coming out next year, but there is also a 6.7L already in development for, I'm guessing, emissions in 2010? This is the first I've heard anything like this.
Also, that 700hp gas motor, sounds a little far fetched...you got anything to back it up?

Take a wild guess! Ford has the lightning, dodge has the SRT-10, Chevy has SS. While yes that does sound far fetched, my nose is sniffing towards japan.
