Dumb question?

This maybe a dumb question but I was washing my truck today and while spraying out the wheel wells and underneath the truck I notice there is a electric motor of some kind under my truck bed. What is it? My friend suggests that it might be a power winch for my spare tire. Does that sound right?

Thanks

Electric? We all have the winch for our spare tires under the bed but electric? I want one! Hard to say. Could be for the spare, or something else put in aftermarket. Can ya get any pics?

I'll try to get some pics monday. It's kind of hard to see from the side. I'll crawl under there in the morning and see. From what I saw today it is just a little in front of the spare tire. Its kind of big and has about 3 or 4 wires going to it. didnt really count them so not sure. It also almost looked like there was a relay box next to the motor. I live in USA but truck was from Canada I dont know if Canadian trucks have anything different besides the DRL lights. its a 2001 scab xlt 4.6l 4x4. I also notice today I have the engine block heater.

It sounds like you might be looking at the charcoal canister which is part of the evaporative emissions system.
