Setting the timing on a 4.6

The other day I found a thread with diagrams and instruction on how to set the timing chains, and now I can't find it again, If anyone knows where it is can you send me a link.
I am having a terrible time with my windsor 4.6L the chain has no reference colored links on it for the camshaft sprocket or crankshaft sprocket dimples. The only thing I'm going by is TDC on #1 and counting the exposed teeth of the cam sprocket between the hump for the cam position sensor and where the chain and spocket come together as compared to the pictures in the haynes manual. good enough do you think?
