I did a search in google to find out if the 79 f350 4x4 I bought over the weekend had any value.. I then found the ford enthusiasts link that talked about the 78/79 F350 so I decided to join..
I know some members here are suprised u dug up a real old thread/What REALLY impresses me is that u already have a gallery up/I've been here 3+ years and I still haven't figured out how to do it.WELCOME
I was kidding. I knew this was a thread from '02! You never know tho, the board sends emails out for threads you post in(assuming he subscribed to threads he posted in) so he might come back and pay up??
I just re-read his first post, he set the bar really low for what he will pay for. F250s were everywhere.
Quote:
To prove how serious I am I will pay anyone (paypal) $25 for getting me "PROOF" of a 78/79 4x4 F250. I will pay $15 for proof of a 78/79 4x4 with a 460.
Heck, I would pay more for proof of a 460 in a 4x4, I have seen tons of fakes.

If I told you the world was flat would you believe me ? There are to many people to count out there that either don't know it or misrepresent their trks as being F350's.Two other big ones are 77.5 to 79 trks that have after market lifts that are called High-boys and how just about every non knowledgeable seller out there is selling a trk with the Ranger or Lariat packages. No ones ever selling a Custom
The sno fighter package was pretty much a D60 front axle. (if there was something else that the package included, does it matter unless you are going to plow snow??) If the guy says it has a D60, either it came that way, or he put it in. Judging from the pictures, its hard to tell if it is a 60 or not, but it looks like on to me.

Just because a truck has a d60 doesn't mean it has the Sno-fighter package. That package has a 4500 frt GVW with higher rated frt springs and a heavier duty steering box. There are many trks out there with FRT D60's that don't have the package with FRT GVW's of 3900 and 4350.

I have seen the steering box on the F2 and F350 4x4s, they all look the same to me, and have the same part number when you go to buy a replacement one. The springs "look" the same too. The front axle (partially) dictates what the front GVW will be. It would make sense to have a heavier spring on the front (to allow for the weight of the plow). Maybe somebody with a parts catalog can comment on any differences, aside from hearsay. Like I said before, if you are not going to plow snow in this truck, does it matter if the D60 came original in the truck or not? I will take a D60 (in this truck) and call it a 1 ton any day.(because it now is, even tho its badged a F250)
