Question F-250 Tire Replacement??

I have a question...

Can anyone offer any suggestions for a good all-terrain/Mud tire that will give me good pavement characteristics and wear without decreasing fuel mileage?

Also, what is the largest tire that will fit a stock height 2004 F250 without rubbing? The current tires are LT265/75/R16 Rugged Trail T/A's.

I know that I am asking a lot in a tire but there has to be a happy medium out there.

I would reconmend the Bridgestone Duller A/T Revos. A 285/75/16 would look good on your truck. The dullers are the best all terrain tire on the market right now. They wear great and are a smooth ride with little to no road noise. they do cost alittle though, but they are the best. GL

I cant remember for sure but I think at full price they run somwhere between 600-800 for a set. that is mount balance and everything. I think that is also with the life time balance and rotatio, but you will not have to pay full price firestone is always running big specials like buy 3 get 1 free. I know they cost a little more than most, but you pay for what you get.

I have some 265/75/16 Winston Winner LT's on my F150. I just bought the truck 2 months ago, and the origional owner said he put these on last year. The look brand new to me. I can stick my finger between the treads and the tread comes to my first knuckle still. Very good tread wear! They are also great in the mud for being an All-terrain. I'm a co-founder of a local 4x4 club, so I have tested them out quite well.

Here's another vote for the Dueler A/T Revo's. You do get what you pay for.

I went with Cooper ATR's . If your concerned about wear issues you may not want to go with the 285's . Sometimes they will wear more in the center when mounted on a stock wheel (7").

I thought you could get 285's as an option. Wouldn't they be mounted on the same stock wheel?

I'll second the Dunlops. I drove cross country on a set of 315/75/16s, no problems, excellent traction even in greasy clay.

unless they changed on the newer trucks 265's should be the widest stock tire.

I'm about to buy a set of hightech retreads mud tires for my daily driver. 280 for a set including shipping. I will be testing them thoroughly. One of my 4x4 rags did a writeup on them and said they were great. I'm gonna find out.
