Adding air bag disable to Upfitter Switch??

2005 F350 CC SB PSD without a switch to disable the passenger air bag. How can I add it now? Can it be done with an upfitter switch? I have 2 more available and I am dying to use them. When I pick up my 2 kids at school I also get 2 more nephews and my daughters friend. That make 5 kids and myself. I got Captains Chairs in front to "protect MY SPACE" so 1 has to set in passenger side and the rest spread out across the back seat. Thanks

Actually the wiring is THERE next to the power point. I don't have the wiring diagram wiring handy, however you can just get the black plastic square for the powerpoint and PAD switch/light that is used in the EXT cab. Should snap right in and then plug in.

I have the same issue sometimes and would like that myself..

No disrespect walkerfarms, but I wouldn't trust my childs safety with respect to air bags to an "engineered" way to enable/disable the system. I'm the first to repair/replace/upgrade all my rigs, but the airbag system should be set up the way the engineers at the factory designed it. I'd talk with someone reputable with actual knowledge about it at Ford and if the harness is there, you probably can just plug it in. I'd get some verifiable info first though. Just my opinion and you know what they say about those...

Doesn't the system sense the weight of a child and automatically disable the airbag? It should also have an indicator on the dash. You might want to check the owners manual. I also seem to remember the harness attached behind the power point.

Oh really? For what model year? I really need to be able to kill my passenger airbag (installing a Panasonic Toughbook MDC + docking station). Details, please!

Mine is an 05 and its there, when I pulled the dash, the wiring harness for the PAD is "plugged" into a blank spot to keep it out of the way right next to the power point. All one would need to do is get the ext cab parts and plug it in.

Likewise, I noticed my was there when I removed the dash for my radio install. There is also one on the left hand side of steering wheel that actually has a pop out cover, but does anyone not what it goes too?

Hmm, I wonder what the part number is for the cover with the power point and switch for a 2005 F350 XLT?

I had to do a bit of research on this when my wife had open heart surgery. One of the requirements before she could ride in the front seat of the truck for the first couple weeks was that the airbag had to be disabled.

Your Ford dealer should be able to do it, but mine required a doctor's prescription (which I had). They still wouldn't do it via the computer because they said that disabling the passenger side would also disable the driver's side and that would create liability issues.

I've seen the part numbers on the web, but can't find them again. Crew cabs are not equipped with them by law, but supercabs do have them. It's a federal thing with the suitability of the rear seat to hold child safety seats.

My suggestion would be to go to the dealer and ask for the key switch and bezel as it would be installed in a supercab.
