7.3 turbo glow plug location

Hi All,
I have a newbie question.

Can some one tell me where the glow plugs are located on this puppy????
The truck is becoming harder and harder to start, so I figure it is time to change the plugs. Lots of smoke on first of the day start up, no problem when the truck is warm.

You don't say what year truck you have. Through 1994 you may have a factory turbocharged IDI diesel. If yours is a 1994 you could also have a PowerStroke which is badged TURBO DIESEL just like the turbo IDI. In 1994 the PowerStroke came only with a manual transmission. If yours is 1995 or newer you have a Power Stroke.

If you have a PowerStroke as already said they are under the valve covers. If you have a turbo IDI (Non PowerStroke, would be 94 or older) I am not sure where they are - I have never worked on one.

If you have a PowerStroke CLICK HERE to go to an excellent article on the glow plug system.

Check the GPR before you pull the valve covers. Most trucks go through several of these for every set of glow plugs. They don't seem to last very long unless you install a GPR bypass switch.
