2000 f150 v6 engine

I would like to know what do I have to do to remove the transmission from the engine? It is an automatic transmission and I do not know how to access the torque converter, or how to disconnect the engine from the transmission... can somebody help me please?? thanks a lot, Vand.

I haven't had the transmission out of a 4.2L truck in a while but I think there should be a cover on the bottom of the bellhousing that is held on by 2 bolts. Remove the cover to access the torque converter nuts. If that's not the case then you can probably access them through the starter hole once the starter is removed.

nuts

hi, there is a rubber blanking plate held in by a clip and is to be found on the flat face of the bell housing on the driver side, not the starter side. becarefull as the nuts are very shallow and easy to round-off.
there is a rubber bung at the bottom off the bell housing that the torque convertor drain plug can be accessed.
regards bokker.

bokker does a 4.2 have the rubber plug for accessing the torque converter nuts?
I know the 4.6 and 5.4 do but I didn't think the 4.2 did.

hi racerguy, yes mine has the rubber plug with the clip its a 1997 and had to strip it off the engine due to total rebuild when the lower gaskets failed and took out the crank bearings. hope this is correct for all years. bokker.
