dave72f250, Welcome to FTE The best truck show on the net.
The W should work fine. How do you plan on using the truck? I guess with the nos, you are into racing.

Rebuild it as a 390, and you will have a much better truck engine. The 360 FE is a better truck engine than the W. I run a FE in my truck and know it is a strong puller. Sounds like your engine block may have frozen and cracked.

so if i were to keep the fe in there but put a better cam and some headman headers does anyone have an estimate of torque/hp? and any recomendations for a cam?
also i would rather have i five speed is there a bellhousing/adapter plate that can be used to put a modern five speed with hydraulic clutch?

Dave, You would have to put mucho denero in the W to make it come close to a mildly built 390.

There will be a rub with the tranny though. You can find adapters for $600.00 or so but the FE is a 50s era design engine with a different bell than the modern small block trannys.

A 390 C-6 is an awesome setup.
