I have a 97 f450 with 100k on it.. It is only running on the right four cylinders..If i plug it in for a few hours I can get it to start but while running I can unplug both of the Left driver side plugs that goes to the injectors and glow plugs and there is no change..I have replaced both valve cover gaskets and all four of the wiring harness, new icp,new cps,two new batteries,changed oil,changed fuel filter...Now what maybe the computer or ipr...Thanks for any help...

 

Most likley the IDM if your sure their is'nt a bad spot in the wiring.

 

Is that the same as the computer on the driver side firewall...Thanks

 

Yes its on the dirvers side fender, below the hood hinge. Its the Injector drive Modual not the computer though. It supply's power to the injectors.

I changed the IDM and now the truck runs a drives perfect..But when I first start it when it is still warm it surges up and down untill I hold the pedal at about 1500 rpms for 30 sec and when I let up it Idles perfect...What next..Thanks

 

could be getting time for injector o rings. is the fuel filter getting black?

hows the oil.. correct amount in there? old/ new? how much is it surging up and down? 50 or so or much higher?

The oil has just been changed...It is surging a liitle more than that for about 20 sec and then it dies..Thanks

Just noticed the overdrive light is flashing ...

 

Removed IPR,cleaned it,replaced O-rings,filed with oil and now it won't start...I have been working on it all day...I did notice that the sceen on the right of the fuel filter had alot of slimey stuff on it..I cleaned it and replace the o-ring on it also..

 

Did you remember to plug the IPR solenoid back in?? I did that once and the truck wouldn't start.
