I 'm planning on some day soon swaping out my e4od for manual,, but I was wondering if I can fit a zf-6 in my truck. I goa 97- 350 CC4x4 . psd. or am I better off just putting the 5 sp in?> thanks J

 

yeah the 6 will go in just gotta move the trans mount and setup the trans cooler for the 6 i had gone back and forth on a 6 in my truck but the best price i have found on a rebuild 6 is $2k with a $1k core. 3 grand.......you can geta rebuilt 5 for $1500 with no core. im gonna put another 5 in my truck and if i want more gears get a US gear splitter. the low and od ranges are the same in the 5 and the 6. i bet you could get a good deal on a manual since you have a auto check out the places that do manual to auto swaps i bet they would work out something good for your old parts. thoose places was where i was looking for a 6speed but i kinda went back to getting the tranny from a rebuilder so i know i have dyno tested tranny with a warranty. phoenix hard parts on ebay is where im gonna get my tranny. My tranny is pretty wore out and its got a cracked case.

 

For the money, I'd much rather build-up the E4OD.

nI 'mnot keeping the e4 when it gose it suckss for pulling a trailer. the gearing is all wrong . Jake I'll PM ya I got a couple leads on tranys with no core.

i kinda gave up on the 6 a while back but definately interested still. theres guys on tds that have done it i think the tailshaft yolk needs to be changed too. your truck 4x4 or 2?

 

itsa 4x4 and I keep trying to decise 5 or 6sp. But I sure like driveing the 6s .
I'malso lookingfor as much advice and help with this job. it's not happening to soon butI thinkI'm going to startgetting parts.. J

 

ill find that link over on TDS i cant remember who it was but hes got a detailed swap instructions and every little part and procedure.

i still got about 6 months on my clutch thats why im getting back to looking again now so i have everything ready to go when the clutch goes. get a south bend clutch there sooooooo much better than the Luk

 

better than a luk Wow!! I loverd the luk in my f-150 . I would love the write up if you can find..I tryed over in the trany section but did not get much help over there. sound like we are both on a bout the same time frame..I m just waiting for the e4 to kick it,, or for me to get sick of it. J
