Question BEST conventional oil

What is the best conventional oil out now? I have been using Castrol GTX 10w-30 in my 86 EFI 302 and it seems VERY happy. Is thier a BETTER oil that would make me happier.
Some choices are
Val All climate
Val max life
Castrol HM
Moble drive clean 5000/7500
Rotella T syn 5w-40-BUT I'm concerned about the cat with a diesel oil
Super tec
Super Tech syn
Pretty much ANY conventional oil with GREAT Numbers on paper

well if your truck burns no oil a diesel oil will work fine.

my top choices are chevron/havoline outstanding numbers on paper and on voa's and uoa's
i would also use valvoline durablend

No oil burning as far as I can tell. Clean tale pipe no oil in air box, clean plugs, Stick ALWAYS right on full.
What do you think Rotella T syn 5w 40?

The one and only thing everyone will agree on is to change it frequently.

Personally, I stay away from the .94c value oil, I usually use Valvoline. people seem to like the castrol GTX.

I wouldn't change to any synthetic in such an old motor.

You mean the stuff at AutoZone? That is only SA rated and not suitable for cars newer than 1980. What I have seen says so on the bottle.

Rusty, you took the words out of my mouth. I once worked for Kerr-McGee before they sold their lubes business to Citgo. At the time, Mystik was considered a great oil. I'm glad to see that Citgo is keeping up the good work. I'm currently running synthetic but would go back to JT-8 if I went back to a conventional oil.

I'll throw in for the Mystic too. I use it in all my gassers. Great oil and inexpensive. My second choice would be whatever is on sale.
