Chevy guts in Fords

Before I remove my subscription to this thread I just want to refer everyone to the survey thread about what engines we are using, I think the blue oval bunch is at about 87% that about says it all. Besides, I am approaching guru status and I just want to be like Randy Jack. Signing off, ff56

I'd love to put in a 289/302 and AOD in my '36...but, I have a low milage SBC 350 EFI (all accessories, serp belt too) and 700R4 that was recently rebuilt, stoutly too.
If anyone wants to make a trade for like same Ford power and transmission, I'd oblige, otherwise Chevy will be powering my Ford. I don't see the need to wrap another 3K into the project, just to satisfy "the" crowd.
If I did not have an engine or transmission, I would be out looking for Ford power. But I'll use what I have, and have fun with it
BTW, as long as the hood is closed, how ya gonna know?

Oh yea I'm waiting for that day, Honda Hybred or Toyota Hydrogen in my 53!
AX, do you know the formula for turning rice into hydrogen?
Oh by the way, Some one had a new hemi in a 56 at the Supernationals the first Knoxville show. Didn't get to talk to him so don't know the details, but it was a great looking truck. He had Hemi badging on the cowl.

I saw something like that at a car show about a month ago, someone had an awesome 1932 Ford and I was looking around going wheres the engine!, It ran off of like 8-10 batteries and had solar panels. I wish I would have taken a picture, when everyone was leaving the street was filled with roaring engines. This thing started up and didn't make a sound, it cruised down the street and was quiet as a mouse. If the technology was there to swap in a hybrid, rice, corn oil, or hydrogen engine for cheap or keep our blocks and pay 8 bucks a gallon.. I still think i'd stick with a real motor.

C**v in a Ford
I guess I'm a Darksider as well. My '55 is pretty much bone stock from the outside (except for the rake, smoothie wheels, Ford hubcaps, and trim rings). It even has all the insignia (front/side of hood, Custom Cab below windows, etc). BUT it has a 95 GM LT1 350. I am running a 9" Ford rear end though. I was overseas so I had a lot of the work done by a shop in Virginia. When I took it in I asked the owner for engine suggestions...I told him I was considering a 289/302 or a 350 and he said it was pretty much of a tossup (except for the purists) and, for a few reasons, I went with the 350. So far I'm really happy with it. The shop owner collects/restores old Mack trucks, so he wasn't on either side of the Ford/Chev argument. I haven't read every posting yet, but I have to agree that it seems pretty civil considering the subject. Bob.

Regarding the issue of Mopar power in an F100; in a month or two I should have a 1956 Chrysler Imperial 354 hemi engine installed in my 1959 F100 factory 4x4. I'm adapting the Mopar engine to a Warner T-89/R-11 overdrive three speed tranny and am keeping the stock transfer case and Dana 44 and Ford 9" axles. I'm converting the starter to the passenger side and with a little modification to the stock rear sump oil pan, it will clear the front drive axle bowl.
It's not as if I don't like Ford power in Ford trucks, as I have a completely restored 1959 F600 (292/Clark 5 speed tranny/Eaton 2 speed axle); 1949 F5 Marmon-Herrington (255 flathead Merc/4 speed/2 speed transfer case); and a completely stock 1931 Model AA dump truck. The hemi's are in a class by themselves though, and I wanted to build an "old-school" hot rod similar to the ones I recall growing up in the 50's. Anyone else have any tips or experience with a "Fordsler"?
