Oil for 2007 and future

Good reading regarding new future class of oil. Note the warnings (near end of article) regarding use of new oil only with the new ULS fuel.

In regards to the low sulphur fuel, there are going to be a lot of folks replacing injectors on their diesels prematurely and often. Sulphur is relied upon to lube the injector. Reducing the amount from 500 ppms to 15 ppms is going to have the old style injectors hammering themselves into worthless metal. I believe the 6.0 injectors will not have as much of a problem as the older 7.3 or 6.9. Unless they come up with a fuel additive for lubrication, it's gonna get expensive to drive a diesel. The good news, the newer engines will last longer and run cleaner. It will also open up a new market for clean diesel engines in a variety of sizes including one for the Ranger and the F-150.

We have low sulphur diesel here (Australia) - its currently 50ppm, going to 10ppm in 2008 (I think).
There have been NO problems as far as I am aware with the 7.3l (we still get that here).

I personally only see sulphur as a bad thing - it is very corrosive, killing engine life and emissions.

sulfer is a good anti wear lube it performs well under stress and lubes well. there is a few cetane boosts that have big amounts of sulfer in them. just like when leaded gas went away a company came out with lead substitute i think you will see someone selling sulfer boost.

You are correct, sulphur does have good attributes.
Just I am not sold on it.
