ID on front axle

My truck needs new axle shafts, but I don't have the old ones. My parts supplier said to bring in the axle housing and we would trial and error to find the right ones, but that would be a bear of a job. I have no idea what axle is one the truck-I'm guessing it's either a '74 or a '77, and I think it's a f250 highboy, but I'm not sure. I tried to access the axle codes chart in the tech articles section, but for some reason I couldn't. I no longer have an ID tag on the axle, but i found these numbers stamped on the pig:

(looking at it from the front)

top left: 276
top right: 35733
bottom right: 3
bottom left: 44 6cf

Can anyone tell me what this means or direct me where to decipher these numbers at?
Thanks a lot! as much as I love workin on my truck.....this would be a big job.

I think the 44 indicates its a dana44 which is the axle used in almost evry one of these trucks. But there are some with dana 60s. An easy way to tell is the size of the hubs. Look at an f150 if your hubs are the same diameter its a 44 if there bigger its a 60.

Good Luck Andy

well i rather stumbled upon the id, rather late. i took the axle off and took it to the junkyard. he said it was out of a 77 f250 highboy, and sold me axle shafts for that axle. tonight, i double checked the capacity for gear oil, and referenced the numbers stamped on my gear housing (44 6Cf) with the axle listings in the manual, and that comes back as a 73-75 f250 hd. now how can i have 77 highboy axleshafts and a 73-75 pig on the same axle? I'm confused, but as long as it goes, that's cool with me. boy, installing axles=long process!
