Off-road rims to fit 78 f250

The smallest rim that seems to fit past the front calipers on my f250 is a 16.5". Mine are all rusted and stuff So I went to a few places and they could only find one type of rim for my truck and it wasn't wide enough. So what do you guys do to fit a smaller rim on the front of your f250's? Is it true some people shave the caliper?

Thanks

Have you tried a 16" rim? And if so was it alloy or steel? Alloy rims are thicker walled than steel and will be closer to the caliper. If you like the look of a steel rim most likely you'll be able to fit a 16" on there with no mods to the calipers. If you want something more bling I can find you some alloy 16.5's. Btw, isn't that a D60 front, same exact axle as I have? I had 16" alloys on there before and they cleared. It was VERY close but they cleared.

I have American Racing rims in steel on there now. They were chrome but for some reason after 20 years of mud and beatings that chrome came right off. I'll look into 16's. Do you have a hook up for rims or something? I would like to get some basic black rims in 16" if they fit. Maybe after the truck is operational again I'll tke it to the rim place to see if a 16" will fit.

No, I don't have a hookup but I found quite a few deals on ebay in 16.5's before I got the beadlocks. Look at Pro's gallery. He's running black steel rims (16") on a Dana 60 and clearing the calipers fine. If those are the rims you're talking about any tire shop sells them and they're cheap.

I am running Staz double beadlocks in 16.5 with 42 tsls. AWESOME combo. Worked great with very low pressure over the weekend just wish I have gotten the rock rings when I ordered the wheels.

Paragon. First run for the rig! you can see that the passengers door had a rough weekend with the rock rash in the first pict and pristine in the second actually I like it. If had wanted a show truck it would not be on the rocks

I think the prices are on his website http://stazworks.com/rims.html
and on a thread in the vendor forum on pirate. I think I will buy to rock rings and weld them on myself over the winter.

Thanks for the props it still has a lot of work left before it is done(ish)
