Integrated Trailer Brake Controller Wiring Question

Integrated Trailer Brake Controller Wiring Question
I just wired a new 7 wire receptacle inside my bed for my fifth wheel. I spliced into the wiring leading to the stock receptacle at the rear bumper. I never checked for continuity issues before I installed the 2nd receptacle, but checked after the installation to make sure I didn't short anything (wires touching that shouldn't be). Everything seems to work fine, but there is continuity (on both receptacles) between the backup lights wire (center pin of the receptacle) and the ground wire (lower left spade of the receptacle). Even though everything is working fine, it seems wierd that this continuity exists.
Could someone that has the controller, a continuity tester and a spare few minutes tell me if they have this continuity as well?
