Check Engine Light with AFE Air Box

Check Engine Light with AFE Air Box
I've got an AFE Cold Air System with the Pro-Guard filter and according to my dealer and Ford's tech hot line it's causeing my Check Engine Light to come on. According to them in the 2006 models the EGR valve sensor is calibrated to the stock air box, and if it senses any more/less air then the stock air box it'll trip the CEL.
So, on to my question... have any of you 2006 Powerstroke owners out there have this problem?
Thanks.

YES, I have the same problem. I installed mine about 2 weeks ago and within 30 miles the CEL came on. I reset computer (unhooked Batteries) 3 times and every time back on. I finally got ahold of AFE and according to them the air filter i have is an older design, because of these issues they redesigned the filter. They are shipping me a new one that is "supposed" to fix the problem. I still have not received it yet but when I do I will repost to let everyone know the outcome. They also told me if this does'nt do it they have redesigned the intake tube from the airbox to the turbo which should fix it.

AFE made the mistake of placing the MAF sensor on the outside edge of the tube elbow instead of the center where it is supposed to be. Air will naturally pass by the outside faster than the inside, and therefore this has the tendency to throw the reading off to the high side. You can get "EGR Flow Insufficient" codes from this (due to the mass flow calculations used to determine EGR flow) and you can also peg the MAF sensor which will throw other codes (the latter is usually only if you are tuned quite hotly)

Sorry I've not been able to reply... been outa town without a good ole internet connection.
uzi556... it's good to see that someone else is having the same problem as me for once Have you gotten anything from AFE yet?
PSD 60L Fx4... what you said is exactly what is happening with the AFE Stage 2 system.

I had a stage 2 also...check engine light..Brought to ford and they check the code..Too much mass air...Afe said they were going to send me a new revised air filter to stop the check engine light from coming on...So actually they were going to send a new filter with more restriction to slow down the air...Apparently their mounting of the maf sensor was in the wrong place....causing this problem...I removed the whole system and return it for a refund..I recently bought a stage 1 filter...no codes, no check engine light...It fits perfectly into the stock housing and the maf sensor is in the original place...runs great and has a nice whistle.......just my 2 cents

I installed a AFE stage 2 w/ the PG7 filter a week or so ago. I have a few hundred miles on my 05 since then....no CEL yet. But also, I don't seem to have a MAF sensor!? That place on the stage 2 intake had a temperature probe, but no MAF. What gives? How does the computer work without a MAF sensor?
I haven't noticed any better mpg yet. But it does 'seem' to have more power and the turbo spools up quicker. And I'm making way, way more boost than before; maybe 10+ psi more. So that isn't gonna save any mpg.
Comments? Thanks.
