Lowered f100 and wheels

If you used the drop I beams to lower your truck, whats the biggest wheel you could fit? I was leaning towards 17's or 18's.

im pretty sure theres someone in one of the galleries thats running 20's with the drop beams. but i think youd have to run a low profile in the front to clear turning.

I'd stick with 235 tall and below, they look good (my truck has 15's right now though, and wheel size isn't changing, these are brand new tires and I like normal sized wheels). You might be able to go taller but 235's tuck up pretty nice with a 3/4 drop, kind of a muscle truck look to them.

interesting...I thought the hardest thing would be to find a 17" or 18" wheel with the proper bolt pattern....

67, You can go pretty high on the wheel size, because in most cases, the inside of the tire is larger while the outside doesn't change a lot. I aint into big tires, but think I remember reading that 33s will work without rubbing.

I have 18x8 and 18x9 Boyds on mine. Had to run spacers in the rear for clearance, but the front is fine. Tire size is 245 50 and 285 50.

The wheels are off right now because I'm having some custom brakes made. I'll get pics when I get it back together(one day). Everytime I start driving it I decide to do more to it.

Just for the sake of education: 235 is the width of the tire in millimeters! The next number (probably a 75 in this case) is the percentage of that width that equals the height of the sidewall (the combination of numbers and the wheel size (the last number like "r15") determines the overall diameter of the tire.

So, a 235-50-15 and a 235-75r15 are very different tires.

that being said, I think 31" overall diameter is about as tall as you can go on a normal ride height F100. So, on a lowered rig it should be substantially shorter, unless you remove some fenders etc. I'm talking mostly about the front tires here. The rear isn't quite as restrictive.

there are some good calculators at www.4lo.com to figure out how tall a tire is given it's metric size.

as an example- a 245-50r20 is about 30" tall.
a 245-50r18 is about 27.6" tall

You will also have to adjust wheel offset to get the most tire without rubbing. I won't even begin to try and explain that :-)
