Canadian dealership or sales people

Are there any Canadian Ford sales people or representatives from a Canadian Ford dealership here that frequent the forums? I owned a 2004 Ford Excursion and traded it in for a 2005 HUMMER H2 and am now looking to go to a 2005 Ford Excursion. I have viewed some of the local dealerships in Edmonton but have had some horrible responses. It would be great if I could find someone to deal with online, and have the vehicle shipped to me instead. I am still not certain about the deal, but I would like to crunch some numbers to at least figure out if this is something that I want to do or can do.

Horrible in what respect? Poor trade in on the H2?

The prices I was given for my trade were not that bad, actually. But I actually ordered an Excursion and they located one with the exact options I wanted. I put my money down, and was told it would be delivered the next day. Three days, and nothing. I finally called them, because they did not call me, and they told me that the vehicle was sold and that they could not find another one with the options I wanted, but they were bringing in another one that was similar. It was lacking the one single option I wanted the most: second row captains, instead of a bench. I was getting uncomfortable at this point, and told them that it was not what I ordered, and I wanted to get my deposit back. Of course, then the manager stepped in, and put on the pressure to get what they brought in, because they went to all the effort to ship it in. I agreed, but when I went to sign, backed out, because I was quickly coming to the conclusion that the guy was a sleezeball. I got my deposit and left and am now considering my options. That's it in a nutshell.

So you're looking for an honest dealer. I haven't found one yet in 20 years of trying.

Good luck with the search. Keeping gas in an H2 with prices like these could get depressing.

Do what I did. Go to the US and buy a Low Mile Used Excursion. I just got home Monday with a loaded 05' Diesel Limited with 15000 miles. $44750 Canadian after Exchange. Or, go to autotrader.ca and check Ontario. One new Eddie Bauer and one new Limited located in Barrie.

Buying a used Excursion is an option I am looking at, too. There is actually a really nice one on a GM lot here in town, but it has the 7.3L diesel and I really loved the 6.0L I had. (It is a 2003, so it was the transition year.) It is lifted, new wheels and tires, everything. But I think the 6.0L did slightly better for fuel economy, and that is my only reason for getting out of the H2, as I love it. But I love the Excursion almost as much, and the fuel economy is the big thing I crave. It's not worlds above and beyond the H2, but it is enough, and in Alberta, diesel costs about 10% less than gasoline. But I do agree with your idea, and used might be the way I end up going.

Thanks! I'll take that route too! Makes sense to cover all of the bases.

Hello Boar-Ral.

I will have a search for an Excursion Limited for you when we get back in on Tuesday. Unfortunetly I do not have a locator at home yet... What options are a must for you, other then the second row captains?

Mike

Thank you for your quick response! I would have responded sooner myself, except that I have friends over for an early Thanksgiving dinner.

The more options the better, since I hope to hold onto this one for a bit longer than my last one. In order of preference, I would say diesel, block heater, 4x4, six disc in-dash changer, rear seat dvd, second row captains chairs, limited slip differential, towing mirrors, skid plates, cargo package, towing package, running boards. Some of these options might sound weird, since I pulled them from the American web site, since the Canadian one is giving me grief right now. I think I am missing some options, but this gives a general idea. Basically, as fully loaded as possible.

Thanks again for your assistance. Have a great turkey day.
