Unhappy L6 300 oil pan options for 1960 F100?

A friend of mine wishes to put a 300 inline six from a mid eighties truck and a T-35 trans in his 1960 2wd F100 shortbox. We would have to make engine and trans mounts which is no big deal. The problem is that the oil pan drop is right over the tie rod and axle. Is there a different pan with a front sump that could be put on? (The inline six that was in it had a front sump, but it seems to be a completely different block so we can't use that one.)

ANY ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Andy

That would be I-6, for Inline 6.

That would be I-6, for Inline 6.
L-6 is the term for a Flathead 6, has to do w/ the valve configuration in the head or some such.
I just did this conversion to my '58 Mercury M-100 & had no problems w/ having the tie rods/axle interfering w/ the O/P.
Cheque out my Gallery if you do not believe me.
And to my knowledge there isn't a front sump O/P, @ least I've not found a refernce to one in Any of the 300 I-6 Shop Manuals or Parts & Accessary Catalogs covering the 300 I-6 I've read.

take the stock pan and make it front sump if you need to. should be very easy to do. use 1/8'' steel .you can even increse the oil capacity.

Welcome Andy. As you can see, there are a bunch of knowledgeable folks here who'll help you out.

When you get a few minutes, read the sticky threads at the top of the forum and then set up your gallery. We'd love to see some pictures of your truck.
